    Vocalist and songwriter Gabrielle Stravelli blends musical traditions with a modern, genre-bending sensibility. The rhythmic swing of jazz frames her original compositions while as an actor and storyteller she reinterprets the Great American Songbook as well as works by contemporary artists as varied as Willie Nelson, Chick Corea and John Fogerty. Unexpected, highly individual choices are her trademark.

    Gabrielle has toured the United States with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra performing his masterwork Abyssinian: A Gospel Celebration. She was chosen by world-renowned jazz pianist Fred Hersch to premiere his song cycle, Rooms of Light, at Montclair University PAC.

    In 2020, she was honored with the Bistro Award for Outstanding Recording (“Pick Up My Pieces”); the 2019 Broadway World Cabaret Award for Best Jazz Vocalist; the 2015 MAC Award for Best Female Vocalist; and the 2015 Bistro Award as a Jazz Vocalist.

We begin at 7:00 and end at 9:30. If you would like to sign up to perform, see one the evening’s ‘Mamettes’ to fill out a card with your name, the name of your song, whether or not Mark will be playing for you and any upcoming events you’d like to promote. We do not present performers in order of sign-up, however, indicating requests as clearly and as early as possible as far as time restraints are concerned always makes everything much more possible. 

    ALWAYS BRING SEVERAL SONG SELECTIONS to avoid duplication. All types of material, on or off theme are always welcome at Salon. We enthusiastically welcome instrumentalists, poets, playwrights, essayists, comics, illusionists and performance artists. Please limit your selections to three or four minutes in length (including patter). Please also bring clear, complete charts for Mark to read. Flash photography is not allowed. Please turn off all noise making devices and give performers your undivided attention.

    $10.00 cover charge (cash at the door) and a 2-drink minimum (cash or credit).

    Jeff Harnar salutes Emmy, Grammy, Tony winning songwriter Cy Coleman in his award-winning, critically acclaimed show A Collective Cy. Expect to hear familiar standards like “The Best is Yet To Come,” “Witchcraft,” “Hey Look Me Over,” “When in Rome,” as well as surprises from Coleman’s six decade career that included Broadway hits like “Sweet Charity.” Alex Rybeck conducts The Rhythm of Life Quartet and the show is Directed by Sara Louise Lazarus

    Jeff Harnar is an award-winning cabaret, concert and recording artist. His Carnegie Hall appearances include both the Cole Porter and Noel Coward Centennial Galas. Jeff’s televised PBS concerts include “The 1959 Broadway Songbook” with Music Director Alex Rybeck and “American Songbook: Stephen Sondheim” co-starring KT Sullivan. Most recently Jeff debuted his own Sondheim show “I Know Things Now” at Feinstein’s/54 Below, Feinstein’s @ Vitello’s and The Pheasantry in London with Music Director Jon Weber and Directed by Sondra Lee. Jeff toured with Broadway’s Shauna Hicks in their Symphony Pops Concert “I Got Rhythm: Mickey & Judy’s Hollywood.” Jeff has won multiple MAC, Bistro and BroadwayWorld Cabaret Awards and The Noel Coward Foundation Cabaret Award. Together with Music Director Alex Rybeck he has released four solo albums. Jeff and Alex made their New York cabaret debut together 38 years ago. Their musical partnership has taken them across the country, across the high seas and to London, Paris, Oslo. Most recently they won the 2020 BroadwayWorld Cabaret Award for Best Show for the 30th Anniversary encore engagement at Birdland Theater of “Carried Away,” their tribute to Betty Comden & Adolph Green.
